This past weekend, the federal ban on Planned Parenthood funding expired. As of July 5, Planned Parenthood facilities can obtain reimbursements from Medicaid.

The Hyde amendment largely prevents federal Medicaid dollars from paying for elective abortions. However, federal funding for other health services indirectly subsidizes the hundreds of thousands of abortions that Planned Parenthood performs annually. This is why pro-lifers are dismayed that Congress failed to pass legislation that would have continued the funding ban that resulted from the Big Beautiful Bill.
