Iran’s defiance and skirting around the peace deal that was talked up in recent weeks, and its firing on U.S. vessels in the strait is an outrage that must be answered with force.
However, I don’t think anything Iran does is going to make the idea of a prolonged war for regime change with Iran popular enough for this or any other near-term administration to join it. Anyone hoping that the next piece of news of Iranian perfidy will fundamentally change Trump’s view, and that Trump will then turn around and mesmerize the American people with an airtight case for great sacrifices in this cause is emoting in vain.
It’d be nice if Democrats would acknowledge that their hatred of Trump has driven them to search for and embrace many questionable candidates this year.
