Phil Mickelson banned from golf club for 'inappropriate' behavior
Legendary U.S. golf star Phil Mickelson has been banned from a prestigious golf club due to inappropriate behavior.
Mickelson, 55, is a six-time major champion. The former PGA Tour star has been competing on the LIV Golf Tour. A new report details that he's been banned from a California club, due to inappropriate behavior with a female employee.
According to a report from Golf Digest, Mickelson is no longer a member at The Farms Golf Club outside San Diego. A female employee accused Mickelson of making "inappropriate contact" with her before a round of golf earlier this spring.
A spokesperson for Mickelson declined to comment on the details of the story.
Details emerging from alleged incident
Mickelson, who is married, allegedly made inappropriate contact with the female employee.
"According to multiple sources, Mickelson approached the female employee at the clubhouse where he made nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact with her. The employee rejected his advances. As Mickelson returned to the course, the employee reported the incident to supervisors. Club officials took the allegation seriously and moved quickly, initiating a review and investigation before locating Mickelson mid-round. He was confronted with the accusation on the course," Golf Digest reported.
"Following that confrontation, he was told to vacate the premises and left the course before completing his round."
The golf club released a statement.
