According to insiders on the HBO hit, tensions have boiled over following Sydney’s controversial American Eagle ad campaign and her alleged ties to the Republican Party.

The feud reportedly began in July, when Sydney fronted an American Eagle campaign carrying the tagline, "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans," with critics accusing the brand of echoing rhetoric around “eugenics” and white supremacy. It comes after Sweeney delivered a controversial 4-word message to her haters following another scandal.

The political divide has reportedly driven a wedge between the co-stars after six years working side by side. However, Sydney has yet to clarify her political stance.
Until recently, they appeared close - with Sydney cheering Zendaya’s 2020 Emmy win, “We were all watching the Emmys because we were all crossing our fingers and we just freaked out. It’s so amazing, I’m very, very proud and excited for Z," the actress gushed.

Trump went on to double down in a fiery Truth Social post praising Sweeney’s “HOTTEST ad” and railing against “woke” brands and singer Taylor Swift. American Eagle defended its campaign, insisting, “‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story.”
