Some argue that the existence of Canada is proof that the American Revolution was unnecessary. The Carney regime in Canada however makes a compelling counterargument.

A 35-page memo to Federal Industry Minister Mélanie Joly contemplates “legal action” against Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media it suspects of spreading “false and misleading information.”

“This strategy seeks to uphold the integrity of and public trust in government information,” states the March 31 memo, Misinformation And Disinformation Strategy, revealed Thursday.

Managers “already monitor the department’s official social media channels and media outlets on a daily basis for comments and recurring inaccuracies,” said the memo.

The department itself would determine whether social media posts were “factually incorrect, misleading or out of context.”

Any punitive measures against individuals would be “proportionate and subject to senior level approval.”

Happy Independence Day.

There’s the difference between a government that derives its powers from the people and one that derives its powers from an ideological bureaucracy and is willing to implement any form of repression to serve those political goals.
