The radical left insurgency

Pathologic altruism (P.A.) may be defined as an intervention which is intended to allay the plight of others, but which instead enables their harmful or self-destructive behavior.  Providing addicts with opiates.  Its practice may also be detrimental to those perpetuating it.  Open borders.

P.A.is a powerful tool of the radical left insurgency.  Leftist policy enables homelessness, drug legalization, illegal immigration, gender dysphoria, shoplifting, “peaceful protests,” defunding the police, participation prizes, permissive parenting, grade inflation, DEI.  All such measures are of no help or detrimental to the recipient of such largesse, as well as to the society at large.  The radical left employs P.A. in Machiavellian fashion.  Instead of generating self-reliance, resilience, and productivity in those feeling disenfranchised, P.A. enables and perpetuates dependency, self- degrading behavior, and discontent.  Its targets are those who, for a variety of personal or environmental reasons, feel thwarted in their ability to attain their goals and expectations in a free-market society.  The collective effect of the insurgency’s P.A. is to stoke and amplify dissent and solidify a cadre of vengeful malcontents incited to overturn the oppressive capitalistic system which is rigged against them.  Just listen to Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders.

The left utilizes “bleeding heart” and virtue-signaling progressives and liberals to advocate and advance its P.A. agenda in the social structure.  Together with the “oppressed,” they constitute the burgeoning voter base of the insurgent left.

The voting bloc needs to be sufficiently expanded to achieve leftist control of the branches of government.  The recent nationwide victories of Democratic Socialists in primary elections is evidence of P.A.’s effectiveness in inciting dissidence in the “oppressed,” while promising them free health care, free education, guaranteed income, taxing the rich.  The Democrat party/DNC is currently internally conflicted over whether to embrace or reject the insurgency, as witnessed by their handling of the Graham Platner debacle. But if the insurgency is where the votes are, the party will soon welcome the radicals under the “big tent.”

With control of government, replacement of capitalism with socialism becomes attainable.  But at this point, the promise of P.A. is no longer of service to the insurgency.  At this point, it needs to redistribute wealth from the “oppressors” to the “oppressed” — to elicit the aid of the system it seeks to overturn.  Oppressive wealth creators are not disciples of P.A.  Some give voice to being agreeable to higher taxes, but doubtless do not make voluntary contributions to the U.S. Treasury.  Their wealth can be seized only by vengeful fiat.  This creates an unsustainable alliance which historically fails — but works long enough for the leftist elites to make hay while the sun shines.  And should the means of production eventually come under state control, the masses enabled by P.A. will become subjugated by the administrative bureaucracy rather than by the system they fought to overturn. Back to hope and change.

Pathologic altruism together with anti-American youth indoctrination constitute the major initiatives of the radical left’s insurrection agenda.  Of the two, youth indoctrination is more vulnerable to attack.  A pro-American school curriculum needs to be a major initiative of the Republican Party.  Such a curriculum would in turn undermine the effectiveness of the left’s P.A. agenda, severely weakening the movement.
