Woodrow Wilson, liberal Democrat, father of the League of Nations, and staunch advocate of progressive government, believed that human nature was subject to Darwinian evolution. Those so enlightened by such genetic favor constituted an elite human subset inherently more ethical, moral, and just than the more Neanderthal laggards of the species. They were the chosen ones who were righteously positioned to control the destinies of all. This concept defines the basis for contemporary liberal ideology.

Liberals are more caring and compassionate. They are champions of equality, tolerance, co-existence, brotherhood of man, and community of nations. They advocate tirelessly against oppression, discrimination, racism, and abusive authority. They are the “yang” of human nature. Conservatives, on the other hand, are the unevolved Luddite purveyors of man’s inhumanity towards man — capitalistic greed, racism, sexism, and subjugation of the marginalized. They are Obama’s rural rednecks who “cling to their guns and Bibles.” They are Hillary’s deplorables. They are the “yin” of human nature..+

This is meant to convey that they actually are devoid and free of selfishness and yin—what it actually means is that they are subconsciously denying it.

For personal unresolved conflicts (guilt, insecurity) they must consciously project only yang to themselves and others. This renders them incapable of entertaining the concept of “healthy selfishness”. Healthy selfishness describes yin-generated behavior patterns which promote one’s own well-being and personal growth, resulting in higher life satisfaction, strong self-worth, and a sustained capacity to help others. Liberals cannot condone such a concept—the yin cannot be a force for good.

This mindset generates their concept that society consists of two distinct factions—the oppressors/yin and the oppressed/yang—forming the basis of identity politics. This concept flies in the face of the tenets of virtually all religions, which recognize that each individual is capable of good or evil behavior, and advance measures for absolution. They gravitate towards socialism because that is the socioeconomic model that, like themselves, suppresses individualism and healthy selfishness, in defiance of human nature.

To the objective observer, the liberals’ success in stifling their own Id/yin warrants an “F.” They don’t want illegals, windmills in their backyard. Their virtue-signaling is hollow. When provoked, they readily display their own yin in cancel culture, rioting, violence, and assassination. In their sanctimonious self-righteousness, they choose to interpret their use of violence as a justifiable last resort measure to achieve social justice in attaining yang, not as a product of their own yin.

Alas, leftists wallow in the same human nature genotype as the rest of us.

If they could only come to admit to themselves and appreciate that their selfishness can be healthy, we might then really be “all in this together!”
