Yeah, you better move on (you better move on)
As my late father used to say, we have more polls in this land than gas stations. Yes, it feels that way when everyone and his brother is publishing a story based on a poll. What did we do before polls? I don’t know, but maybe we found time to do other things, like talking to people with whom we disagreed.

The latest poll going around is about Democrats and the U.S. It seems, according to the poll, that 55% of them just don’t like the U.S. or prefer to live elsewhere. Let’s check this out via Power Line:
It is interesting that there is very little difference based on income or ethnicity. The huge difference is political: Democrats want to live somewhere else, Republicans don’t. I find the Democrats’ offer acceptable and would like to see if there is a way to satisfy their desire.

Seriously, I do think that the U.S. may be in the process of breaking up. When Democrats say they would like to live in a different country, I think it means they want a country of their own–a socialist country where there are 256 genders, no rich people, no free speech, no religion. Someday, I think they may get it. Because there is no basis for common citizenship between us, who love our country and want to preserve it, and them, who hate our country and want to destroy it.
Yes, we may be on the brink of that moment when things just break up. It could be a friendship gone bad. Or a business relationship gone sour. Or a marriage gone toxic where nothing seems to work anymore.

What makes this difference different, if you know what I mean, is that it seems that we want a different future. Or we’re not on the same page as they say!
The Democrats want a more socialist society with the government running more and more of our affairs. The funny thing is that most Democrat young people have never actually lived in a country like that, say Cuba, but they have fallen in love with whatever their college professor has told them about the socialist utopia. Another big difference is getting married and having kids, another point where the two sides don’t see eye to eye.

The Republicans like the country, although they understand that nothing is perfect. They don’t believe that blowing up the whole thing will give us a better product.
So here we are. It does seem like we’ve reached that famous fork in the road, or a moment of decision.

My preference would be to stay together and keep all the stars on that beautiful flag. However, we may be at that point where we need to tell the disenchanted, or the ones who want to live in another country, that “you better move on,” to paraphrase Mick and the Stones.
Let them move on and find that utopia. We’ll miss you at Christmas time, and send you a birthday card. And we’ll consider letting you back when all of your utopian dreams crash,as they always do.
