Graham Platner runs on the MABSA platform

Maine’s comically stereotypical toxic male Democrat candidate for the Senate, Graham Platner, has said many outrageous, antisemitic, anti-military, misogynistic, anti-constitutional, and just plain stupid things.

Perhaps the stupidest was his faux-manly bloviation about what he’d do to a burglar:

“If anybody ever broke in here, I would rape them…[but] not in a gay way.”

“He was like, ‘I would rape them to show them that I’m dominant.’”

This is the kind of toxic masculinity that so inflames Democrats who, with their usual projection, apply that label to Republicans. The irony that they’re defending Platner, who embodies the worst characteristics of some men, is entirely lost on them. Or maybe it isn’t. They know he’s radioactive to Normal Americans, but they’re desperate to seize control of Congress, so they’re sticking with Platner, a spoiled rich kid instantly turned into a Nazi tattoo-wearing, bearded, scruffy oyster farmer everyman who’s just like us, except they know he isn’t, but they hate Trump and Normal Americans, and America. So, they do whatever is necessary to seize and keep power and fundamentally transform America, keeping Barack Obama’s threat alive.

The kinds of people that would commit a hot burglary—one where people are home—tend to be drug users not terribly worried about contaminated needles, violent career felons, and are not terribly focused on personal hygiene, and Platner wants to demonstrate his manliness through forced anal sex with them? Platner is the modern model of a Democrat politician? Democrats think Normal American men are going to hear that and immediately identify with Platner and Democrats because that’s what they want to do too?

Yeah, why Democrats have such trouble getting men to vote for them is a mystery.

In this instance, Platner—and Democrats—display a darkly hilarious lack of understanding of criminal law. In any violent encounter, one can only claim self-defense if they are not the initial aggressor. Even if one is the victim of an unprovoked attack, if they get the better of the aggressor, who stops attacking and wants to flee, they become the aggressor if they continue to attack the person who first attacked them.

Many states, including Maine, have Castle Doctrine laws, but as always, the devil is in the details. Most establish the presumption that anyone entering the home of another without permission, particularly forcibly, is not there for lawful purposes, and force—including deadly force—may be used against them. Homeowners don’t have to run away and abandon their homes and families to intruders. Nor do they have to engage in polite conversation and obtain a written declaration of an intruder’s intentions.

Maine does that too—sort of—but its Castle Doctrine law has plenty of caveats, and one had better be damned sure they cross every legal “T” and dot every “i.” What that particular law does not say is anal rape, for the purpose of dominance or not, is justifiable under any conceivable set of circumstances. There is no apparent "I'm a stupid guy with a covered-up Nazi tattoo I never knew was a Nazi tattoo until I ran for the Senate" exception.

Even in red states with permissive Castle Doctrine laws, one can never be certain a leftist prosecutor won’t ignore the plain text of the law and charge a homeowner. Soros prosecutors tend not to get elected in red states and cities, but leftist lawyers just out of law school often take jobs as prosecutors because they have no skills or experience law firms seek. Prosecutors tend to get a great deal of courtroom and trial experience very quickly, which might make them attractive to bigger law firms. That’s where the money is, and on their way to the big bucks, leftist lawyers tend to remain leftist lawyers.

A potentially notable exception might occur in Maine should Platner get the opportunity to enact his not gay anal rape dominance desires. A leftist prosecutor would be likely to give him a pass regardless of the letter of the law to ensure Platner becomes a US Senator where he could write a bill allowing anal rape of burglars across the nation, perhaps on the MABSA—Make America Butt Sore Again—platform.

It doesn’t have quite the ring of MAGA, but that’s about all we can expect of contemporary Democrats.
