Was Avner Netanyahu's Wedding Date Used To Dupe The Iranians? - VINnews

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Was the wedding date of Avner Netanyahu, the son of the Prime Minister, used as part of a sophisticated military deception aimed at concealing Israel’s dramatic strike on Iran? After all, many in Israel believed the country would not launch an attack before Monday—and were held captive by that assumption, despite the aufruf being rather unusually moved up by a week.

The topic, first discussed on the radio show hosted by Erel Segal and Eyal Berkovic on Israel’s 103FM radio, has ignited public debate—and led both commentators and listeners to ask: Was this one of the most elaborate intelligence ruses carried out in the Middle East in recent years?
During the special broadcast focused on the opening of the military campaign, Berkovic, usually known for his harsh criticism of the Prime Minister, surprised many by saying:
“I really liked how this whole thing with Iran was handled. I’ve been shouting for a long time that Bibi is a coward—and here he pulled the trigger. Respect.”
Segal, one of Netanyahu’s prominent supporters, raised an intriguing point:
“Tell me—do you know anyone who actually received a wedding invitation? This was a deception tactic like we haven’t seen in a long time.”
Berkovic hesitated:“I don’t know.”
Segal replied:“That’s exactly the point.”
The wedding in question, which was set to take place on Monday at the Ronit Farm banquet hall, was postponed due to the security situation. However, in the wake of the large-scale military operation against Iran’s nuclear facilities, some now claim that the public announcement of the wedding—and even the recorded security arrangements—were part of a distraction effort.
It’s worth noting that the previous planned wedding date was also scheduled shortly after the “beeper attack” (a code for an earlier security incident), and was postponed as well due to the war with Hezbollah.
Analysts suggest that such a maneuver could be considered a sophisticated strategic deception, which leveraged publicly available information to dull the enemy’s alertness.
