Miami Just Got Stormed by Kilts, Bagpipes, and Brazilian Whistles

The Scots have invaded Miami! Also, the Brazilians.

I was concerned this might spill into Florida, but we’re not Boston. Our police don’t tolerate chaos. With millions of tourists visiting every year, safety is non-negotiable for our economy. Florida is known as a family-friendly destination, so law enforcement here keeps the streets orderly and doesn’t allow drunken or outrageous behavior.

As a result, our cops tend to be quicker and firmer than in many other places.

Many places in Florida have absolutely shut down Spring Break crowds because they were much too raucous. Florida wants World Cup attendees to have fun, but there will be limits.

Florida and particularly Miami is a diverse place with people from all over the world inhabiting our beloved peninsula. We love to learn about new cultures and new ways to party, but keep it cute.

Also, wear sunscreen.

Don't mess with the alligators and manatees. It's against the law.

Shower before you get in the pool. Your sunscreen and lotion will wash off and make the water cloudy if you don’t. Don’t swim too far out in the ocean. If you get caught in a riptide, don’t fight it. Swim parallel to the shore until you’re out of the current, then head back in. If you go on the beach at night, the no-see-ums will bite the fire out of you. Wear bug spray.

Ask anyone who lives in Florida who the worst tourists at Disney are and they'll tell you the people from Brazil. They are very loud (louder than obnoxious Americans), travel in big clumps of people and blow whistles. Hopefully they are more chill in Miami.

Hopefully, the Commissioner is having a chat with the police so they are all on the same page.

Let's hope they spend lots of money and really stimulate the economy of Florida!
