Jen Psaki's Faux Platner Outrage

townhall.com

The media were caught flat-footed again on Graham Platner. Or at least that's what they want you to believe. Molly Jong-Fast said earlier that the media were sold a character arc on the guy who spent the better part of two decades proudly flashing his Totenkopf tattoo at strangers whenever he got drunk.

"We did Nazi that coming," Jong-Fast would probably say with a straight face.

But there are actually five stages of grief, and Jong-Fast was in denial. Jen Psaki bypassed that and jumped right to angry. She wants us to know that the media are 'enraged' that a guy with red flags big enough to cover the entire state of Maine turned out to be a giant, screaming scumbag.

"It is an end to what has been an unpredictable, incredibly tumultuous, at times fascinating — simply because of the political story — and ultimately, deeply enraging political career for Graham Platner," Psaki said. "Enraging for all of us and we have covered this race from the very beginning, on purpose, because I think it's important we don't put our heads in the sand and just project on all of you what we think and only talk to people at a table in Washington, D.C. I think one of the most important things we can do is listen to voters, to watch and to try to understand what is happening in this country. Even if it doesn't totally make sense."

I don't even know where to begin with this nonsense.

But I guess I'll start where I always do when I write about Platner. The same people who have spent the entirety of my political consciousness calling every Republican who dared run for public office a Nazi, Hitler, a fascist, a dictator were suddenly perfectly fine with Platner and his literal Nazi tattoo. They spent months telling me Secretary of War Pete Hegseth had a Nazi tattoo on his chest, even though the Jerusalem cross has long been a symbol of Christianity, and one that appeared on the funeral program of former President Jimmy Carter.

I have five tattoos myself. Each was carefully, deliberately designed to be part of my body permanently. None of them were done while drunk, and none of them were rooted in PTSD. I somehow managed to avoid getting a symbol associated with the most evil regime in human history.

Isn't Psaki a journalist, or at least does she claim to be one?

She and her fellow so-called journalists absolutely put their heads in the sand on Platner. Their goal was clear: they had to take out Susan Collins, who is probably the least radical, least offensive Republican to ever sit in the Senate. Collins, Platner falsely claimed, sent him to war. She's a fascist who hates women and loves Trump. I wonder how many of Platner's voters know Collins voted to impeach President Trump in his first term; my guess is few, if any.

Where was Psaki to fact-check these claims? Where was her coverage about Graham Platner's disturbing and gross social media history, where he talked about masturbation, encouraged a teen girl to commit suicide, and attacked cops, rural voters, and proudly said he's a commie?

Voters deserved to know that, too.

And maybe some of them did. But Psaki and MS NOW weren't the reason why.

It also apparently wasn't enraging to Psaki or her colleagues when Lyndsey Fifield shared how Platner was abusive when they dated. They dismissed Fifield's story as just a partisan attack, with help from the New York Times, which sat on the rape allegations from Jenny Racicot and spun Fifield's story to look partisan.

They're not even mad that Platner allegedly raped Racicot, who said she agrees with Platner's politics, frankly. As one Leftist I wrote about today proved, the rape of one 'white woman' is no big deal compared to the non-existent genocide in Gaza.

So much for 'believe all women,' huh?

What's enraging to Psaki and her colleagues is not Platner's baggage or his behavior. Sunny Hostin proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Platner could have murdered puppies on the campaign stage, and Hostin said she'd still hold her nose and vote for him.

Democrats have a history of doing this. Remember how anti-Trumper Michael Avenatti was going to be the Democrats' next presidential nominee? Yeah, Avenatti is now in prison for ripping off his clients.

Whoops.

The Bulwark was already talking about Platner 2028. They have a habit of elevating the absolute worst people, time and again, because their hunger for political power and control outweighs any sense of basic human decency. They would vote for Adolf himself if he had a (D) after his name, and they'd make a laundry list of excuses as to why they had to.

What really enrages Psaki is that they are likely to lose the Senate race in Maine, no matter whom the Maine Democrats install at this point. I'm fine with that. I like Collins as much as I like any politician, and anyone who keeps the Republican majority to stop the Democrats from weaponizing the government against people like me has my support.
