Here Is Leftist Government

I’ve got a good friend here in Thailand, whom I met when I moved to China in 2011. He was actually my immediate boss, but over the years, he and I have become very close friends. He lived and worked in China, as a dean and teacher, for almost 20 years. But he finally left last year, as, over time, under Xi Jinping, the increasingly burdensome constraints, regulations, laws, and outright stupidity of the communist government became simply intolerable to him, and he couldn’t stand it anymore. The Communist Python squeezed him till he had nothing left to give. So, he left.

He taught for a year in Cambodia, but now, he has been offered another position in China. He is trying to go back, mainly because he has a Chinese wife who wants to return. But the Chinese government is making it as difficult as they possibly can for him to get a visa. Not necessarily because they don’t want him to return, but because they simply do not care about him or their own people. My friend is an excellent teacher who could do a lot of good for his Chinese students. He could help China. But instead of wanting him there, instead of smoothing the road for his return, instead of helping him, they are putting every roadblock they can, every hindrance possible, in his path.
Why? Because the Chinese government... doesn’t ...care. They have totalitarian power, thus no reason to. That is what a godless, totalitarian Leftist system produces. Complete selfishness and utter disinterest, even for those they should be most concerned about. They care only about totalitarian power.
The students in China are great. China’s Confucian tradition of family values and respect for teachers and elders is still strong, though it is slowly waning as nihilistic Marxian ethics are hammered into them and seep deeper into their minds, hearts, and consciences. The sad tragedy of Chinese students is the system they grow up in; now, they are good—and naïve. But they learn the communist system and become like their bureaucratic masters—cynical, and eventually, totally uncaring for other people. My friend, who wants to help the Chinese students, is being stifled by a godless, cold, selfish Leftist bureaucracy that is concerned about nothing but its own power. Utter amorality. That’s what Leftism will bring to America, if allowed to do so.

People in China have no “love thy neighbor as thyself” heritage because China has never been a Christian country. However, again, the decent Confucian element isn’t totally dead yet. But the Leftist, communist government has no moral code at all, except “obey us.” They don’t really care what their people do as long as they completely submit and don’t oppose the government. As one ex-student of mine once told me, after he had been ruthlessly cheated by his employer—an extremely common practice in China—“the government doesn’t give a s**t.” No, they don’t. They exult in nothing but power and control, in people being utterly cowed into submission. Those who don’t might end up with their guts cut out.
And that is exactly what America faces if the Democrat Party, as currently configured ideologically, ever gains dominance in the nation. But it might be worse than China. Democrats have no Confucian heritage, and spit on Judaism and Christianity.
Democrats today do have to at least make some chimerical attempts to honor American moral tradition—the Judeo-Christian heritage is still strong and millions of Americans accept it. James Talarico realizes his only chance of winning a U.S. Senate seat in Texas is if he can bamboozle enough people that his party practices “love thy neighbor as thyself” better than Republicans do. But, of course, in practice, to a Democrat like Talarico, “love thy neighbor as thyself” means allowing a woman to murder her unborn baby if she wants to, letting children be mutilated for life for sexually perverted reasons, permitting as much licentious sex as people desire to commit, and letting people sponge off the hard work of their “neighbors.” Their “neighbors” are supposed to “love” them and give them everything they want, but they feel no concomitant responsibility to show some “love” and concern for those from whom they take money by government force. That, morally, is the Democratic Party’s definition of “love thy neighbor as thyself.”

In truth, the Democrats have totally abandoned the Judeo-Christian moral code, except when they hypocritically need it to gain votes. Even then, they define Judeo-Christian morality according to their utopian vision of what they think the world should be. And that utopian vision carries a whole lot of Marxian ethical subjectivism and totalitarian government in it. And I return here to the Chinese government.
The Chinese government does not care one royal, rotten fig about their people—I lived there, I know exactly what I’m talking about. I was doing great work in China (ask my friend), but the government forced me to leave. And, as noted, my friend, in his attempts to return to China, is facing the very same tyranny right now—the government is making it as difficult as possible for this man, who is an excellent, well-qualified teacher, and who WANTS to go and help the Chinese students—the Chinese government is putting obstacle after obstacle in his path. Oh, they’ll let him come if he can get over all the hurdles. But instead of trying to help a man who is trying to help their children, they are hindering him at every turn. And they are doing it because of utter callousness towards their people, they care only about control and power, of demanding that people do only what they allow, i.e., submit to the communist lust for dominance. Obedience. Or be shot.

That is Leftist government. It exists. We can see it, and should learn from it.
But it’s coming to an America near you—if the Democrats ever gain totalitarian control.
