What Can I Say?

Things could look better.
One thing I don’t like is when people complain for the wrong reasons. Imagine being at the airport. You ran to get to your gate, only to find out that the plane is delayed. Parched, you make your way over to the wildly overpriced airport store to get a Coke. Your brain can hear the bubbles, and you imagine your favorite beverage dancing in your mouth. As you look in their refrigerator, you see Fanta, 7-Up, and RC Cola. No Coke. You don’t like any of those drinks, and you just want a Coke and a smile. But it isn’t there. What are you going to do? Leave the airport, drive to Costco, pick up a Coke and go through security again? Will you complain for the next five hours about how you needed a Coke but none was to be found? Or will you swallow your pride and drop $5 for a 500 mL bottle of not-Coke?
In November 2024, we had a choice between two candidates: Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala “Cackles” Harris. Every person can fantasize about who else would have been the perfect candidate, but those fantasies are worth as much as shares of Enron today. Those were our only choices. Period. And even if Donald Trump were to spend the next two and a half years looking out the White House window at his UFC octagon, he will still have accomplished more than Kamala Harris could have ever done even in eight years in office. A train running in the wrong direction, however fast, sleek and well-appointed, will still not get you where you need to go. When a sitting vice president tells a meeting her pronouns and what she is wearing, then Heaven have mercy on the country that elevates her to anything beyond Walmart greeter. So Donald Trump, with his first term and the hell that Democrats and shooters put him through during his break, was the only choice for president.
There is much good that the president has done and I imagine that he will do much more. He has closed the border, started the ejection of millions of illegal aliens, established fairer trading rules and tariffs, and reinvigorated America’s military. I imagine that he will continue to push for honest and fair elections and enact policies and programs that strengthen America’s economic and military future. I can’t imagine Kamala Harris accomplishing a tenth of what Donald Trump has. She would drink more. I guess that’s something.
I honestly can say that I don’t know what the president is doing on the Iran file. There is a stiff closure of the Straits of Hormuz, which might end this week. Iran has absorbed thousands of missiles, bombs and drones. The president said many times that a deal with the Iranians was right around the corner and that it would bring peace. Every time the Iranians pretended to leak some crazy terms about getting billions up front or not having to deal with the buried enriched uranium, the president would run to Truth Social to say that such were not the conditions. As Mark Levin has asked, why can’t we see the MOU? If the terms are so wonderful, why can’t we also see them, so that we too can say how wonderful they are? Why would anyone expect an honest outcome with Pakistan and Qatar “mediating” while sitting in Iran’s corner? What happened to the Swiss and Austrians as the world’s honest brokers from the Cold War? Pakistan no doubt knew of Bin Laden’s presence in their country, and Qatar is the major driver for the destruction of American education, which has used the country’s billions to warm up to Sharia law. I never understood why lefty swingers were into covering women up to their eyeballs and throwing gays off of tall buildings, but it’s amazing what boatloads of money can accomplish.
RecommendedThere are many things that the Western mind does not understand about Muslims and Islam. Muslims have a very low threshold for declaring victory. Even though Gaza looks like a tornado went through a LEGO factory and they have lost 70 percent of the landmass, the folks there call it victory. Same for Iran, even after its leadership was effectively wiped out and much of its weapons infrastructure was destroyed. As Westerners, we shake our heads and laugh: that’s victory? It’s like the time when the lousy LA Raiders complained that their punter didn’t make it to the Pro Bowl. He kicked more than anybody—isn’t that a form of success? But we don’t understand. If you convince the children that you have won, then they will keep fighting because they too wish to win. Germans and Japanese were ashamed of the war and losing. You don’t see World War II memorials recognizing Hitler’s taking France or Yamamoto clobbering Pearl Harbor. We lost. Let’s move on. The Muslims declare victory, so there is no need for introspection or moving on. Many streets in Ramallah are named after people who blew up and killed Jews. Their actions did nothing to establish “Palestine” or make the lot of their Arab brethren better. But they killed Jews, and that is the definition of success. So too in Gaza: they killed over a thousand Jews; everything that came afterwards was just noise.
So when the Iranians claim that they won and that they defeated the Great Satan and its president, we think that they are bonkers. But they are setting up their followers and true believers to keep fighting on. Anything for them is “victory,” as their ultimate goal remains—and will remain after any misbegotten agreement—to destroy the West and make Sharia the worldwide law. Nothing will change that until the regime is destroyed. Why did Donald Trump stop the bombing? Why did he ignore all of the Iranian ceasefire violations and choose not to restart bombing? Why did he and his vice president choose to publicly attack Bibi Netanyahu, something that only strengthens Israel’s and America’s enemies? Why did he drop the Abraham Accord business related to peace? Why did he feel that Israel can only answer Hezbollah if there are dead Jews in the streets? Why does President Trump always praise ruthless dictators like those in Pakistan, Turkey, and Syria? Why doesn’t President Trump want to get the job done and take care of those bridges and power plants?
One is allowed to criticize a sitting president. He is also allowed to be disappointed. I am speaking as a proud American citizen, and not simply because I live in Israel. Iran is an implacable enemy of the U.S. and a congenital liar. They will do everything to rearm and acquire a nuclear weapon. No signed piece of paper will convince me of a different outcome. Why such a smart and experienced person as Donald Trump would put any weight in their claims, promises, or signatures is beyond me. It’s like a squatter promising to leave—he never leaves though he promises endlessly.
Donald Trump is and will remain a far better choice than our clueless former vice president. I don’t understand his Iran policy. Even if he has no obligation to Iranians, Israelis, or Gulf states, he does have obligations to the American people and the Constitution. Whatever agreement is being hatched does not seem to make America safer. The Iranians will get a nuclear device by hook or by crook and then try to bring "The Sum of All Fears" to fruition. Donald Trump likes to be liked and he wants everyone to benefit. How often has he said that Venezuelans benefited from his quick action in Caracas? The Iranians promise not to make a nuclear bomb? And I promise not to grab a cookie from the cookie jar.
