(WND)—One township in New York state is acting now to oppose the state legislature’s pending “woke nonsense” that actually cancels from language in any state law or directive “mother” and “father.”

In a move being seen as caving to the social agenda of transgenderism-for-all, those lawmakers have proposed a bill, still unsigned by the governor, to censor those words.

John Ferretti, supervisor for the town of Hampstead, thinks that’s not going to work.

“As a father of two, it was an insult to me and to my wife. As soon as I learned, the first thing I did was bring my wife into our bedroom and say, ‘Look what they did up in Albany. They’re eliminating the terms mother and father from state law.’”

He recalled his 9-year-old daughter overheard, and asked, “Can I still call you dad?’”

He said, “It really hit close to home. We need to take a stand in the town of Hempstead, the largest township in America, and make sure that we make it clear not just to residents in the town of Hempstead, but to residents throughout New York state, that we won’t stand for this kind of woke nonsense.”

A report at Fox News notes lawmakers have pushed the censorship plan to erase “mother” and “father” and instead use “gestating parent” and “non-gestating parent.”

An emergency resolution now has been assembled from Hempstead township.

Democrats in the state legislature have claimed they are being more “inclusive” because of residents in the state with odd “gender identities.”

Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, hasn’t signed it yet. She has until the end of the year to decide.

Ferretti explained the emergency move from Hempstead is to ensure the town continues to recognize “mother” and “father” in its own laws, regardless of the state’s politicized actions.

Ferretti said, “We’re taking a stand because we will not allow woke Democrat liberals in New York state and the New York state legislature to erase the traditional family. They did not pass a law that adds language. They passed a law that erases mother and father from certain statutes under New York state law, and that’s completely unacceptable.”

Ferretti said, in the report, the resolution has gained support from representatives of Nassau County, including Assembly Minority Leader Ed Ra, and others.

Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County executive and Republican candidate for governor, pointed out, “In Kathy Hochul’s New York, ‘mom’ is now defined as ‘gestating parent.’ Not when I’m governor!”

Previously there have been local determinations in New York that they will not recognize boys who say they are girls as girls regarding the use of county facilities for women’s sports.
