Joy Behar Praised JD Vance During Commercial Break on 'The View,' Urged Him to 'Run for President' - Slay News

Vice President JD Vance received an unexpected compliment from one of his most frequent critics this week when “The View” co-host Joy Behar reportedly told him during a commercial break that he should consider running for president.
The surprising exchange came during Vance’s appearance on the ABC daytime talk show to discuss his new book, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.”
The vice president faced questions on topics ranging from immigration and the economy to Jeffrey Epstein and race relations.
Behar Tells Vance He Has a ‘Good Vibe’

“You told him during the break that he should run for president because he has a good vibe,” Teta said to Behar.
“I think that, even though, for a Republican,” Behar responded.
“Mind you, I’m not a Republican.”

“I don’t mind a Republican on the city level because it needs a little discipline,” Behar said.
“But on the national level, I want somebody with a good heart.
“And those are more in the Democratic Party, in my opinion.

“They help people,” she claimed.
“The Republican Party is much more about saving taxes for rich people.
“So, I’m not a Republican.”

The vice president referenced Behar’s compliment when the show returned from a commercial break.
“Joy said when we were off air that I’m ‘fine,’ which I think is about the best endorsement I’m gonna get out of Joy Behar,” Vance joked.
Behar quickly responded:

The exchange generated laughter from both the audience and the panelists.
Behar Floats Potential Vance-Newsom Matchup
During the podcast discussion, Behar also suggested a future presidential race between Vance and California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom could be an interesting contest.
“Truthfully, as I said to you in the beginning of this conversation, I don’t think that he’s a bad guy,” Behar said.
“So, if he runs against, say, Gavin Newsom, that’ll be an interesting debate to see those two because they’re both intelligent.”
The remarks stood out given Behar’s long history of criticism toward both President Trump and the broader Republican Party.
Vance Says Appearance Was Less Hostile Than Expected
Despite several contentious exchanges during the interview, Vance later said the appearance was not nearly as hostile as he had anticipated.
Speaking on Fox News’ “Gutfeld!” Tuesday night, the vice president joked that his expectations had been exceeded.
“I expected them to be absolutely vicious, and they were only a little bit vicious,” Vance said.
“It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.”
Vance also poked fun at one of the show’s more heated discussions.

“In reality, it was Whoopi, the woman to my right, who called me a racist.
“So expectations were defied.”
Heated Exchanges Over Immigration and Race
The appearance featured several clashes between Vance and the panel over immigration policy, the economy, and the administration’s handling of race-related issues.
Co-host Sunny Hostin repeatedly argued that black history was being erased by the administration.
However, Vance pushed back against those claims and defended the administration’s record.
Although disagreements remained sharp throughout the interview, Behar’s comments afterward represented an unusually cordial moment between the vice president and one of daytime television’s most prominent liberal voices.
For Vance, receiving praise from Joy Behar may not signal a political endorsement, but it was certainly one of the more unexpected moments to emerge from his appearance on “The View.”
