Unbelievable Media Headline About Dems' Reaction to World Cup Has Jaws Dropping

We've been covering the World Cup, and it's been a smasher so far, both in the way it's being held and in how the fans visiting from around the world have reacted to it. They've fallen in love with America, and we, in turn, have been enjoying their wonder and their experiences.

In general, the reaction all around has been wonderful to see. But as my colleague Jennifer Oliver O'Connell noted when she wrote about Shaun from Scotland meeting with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, some on the left weighed in with political critiques. Interestingly, Shaun noted he would have accepted sitting down with a Democratic leader as well, but no Democrat had reached out to him as of yet.

Then there was this incredible Politico headline.

"Democrats grapple uncomfortably with World Cup success," it said.

The triumph of the World Cup’s first two weeks — boosting the U.S.’s global reputation with sold-out stadiums and few logistical complications — has forced Democrats who had criticized President Donald Trump’s role in preparations to grudgingly reconsider.

“I think that there was a little bit of like liberal wishcasting that this would maybe be a disaster to sort of stick it to Trump,” said Rob Flaherty, the digital Democratic strategist and soccer fan who attended the U.S. group-stage match with Australia. “It hasn’t yet been.”

Imagine how twisted someone is if they are "wishcasting" that way to stick it to Trump, rather than wanting it to go well in the best interests of our country and the visiting fans. How dare it be successful!

People thought it was jaw-dropping. 

But it's not hard to believe because we see Democrats every day looking at everything through the lens of their Trump hate. We just saw Democrats nominate socialists in New York, including a woman who spoke about wiping her hands with the American flag and other inflammatory comments. There's been polling that shows Democrats have a real problem with having pride in America. And they wonder why voters may have issues with them?

Indeed, visitors explained how they'd been fed false stories about America and Americans. Gee, I wonder why? Could it be all the anti-America/anti-Trump liberal media stories? But their visit blew all the lies to heck, because now they knew the truth. 

The last guy has it right: "America has absolutely smashed it." 

Whether all the Democrats like it or not.
