We've mentioned the Norwegians and their Viking rowing chant in the past, when they were rowing up an escalator in Boston.

But the Norwegians really grabbed national attention on Monday. Norway was in New Jersey to play Senegal, and that meant the Norwegian fans took New York and New Jersey by storm.

They braved the NYC subway and amused commuting New Yorkers.

They even took over Times Square.

Before the game, they even row in all kinds of weather.

But that was just a warm-up to an epic rowing moment at the game in New Jersey at MetLife Stadium.

The Norwegian team didn't disappoint their fans with their play. They jumped out to a lead with Marcus Pedersen getting the first goal. Then, star striker Erling Haaland made it 2-0.

Senegal's Ismaila Sarr got one back, but then Haaland scored again, making it 3-1. Senegal did manage to get another one, but Norway held on to win, 3-2.

Haaland is second in the Golden Boot race with his four goals, one behind Argentina’s Lionel Messi and tied with France’s Kylian Mbappé for the most goals in the World Cup.

The team had some real fun when, after the final whistle, Martin Odegaard got a drum out. The team sat down in formation in front of their fans just inside the penalty area, and encouraged them on, as the team joined in the row chant.

It was their first World Cup appearance since 1998, and they certainly came through with two wins. That means that they are advancing on to the Round of 32, which thrilled their fans.

So expect more rowing to come.
