Angelenos hoping to be a part of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics without a serious training regimen or athletic ability now have their chance.

The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games opened the applications for volunteers Tuesday.

The volunteer program, presented by Delta Air Lines, will bring together a crew of 60,000 volunteers for a variety of roles in communications, driving, experience, medical, ceremonies, operations, sport and technology.

How to apply to be 2028 LA Olympics volunteer

The journey to becoming an LA28 volunteer is a simple five-step process: First, apply online (there is no rush, as submission order won’t affect your selection). Then, if shortlisted, applicants will need to complete a teamwork-focused assessment either in-person in LA or virtually.

Those who move to the next level, will have to go through and pass a background check. The volunteers will then be trained for their specific roles and venue. The final step is for the volunteers to get their official uniforms and badges, get a schedule and help bring the games to life.

The 2028 sporting event offers two primary volunteer tracks: preparing the local community ahead of the games, or working directly in games-time roles. Online applications are now open.

Only those above the age of 18 years with English language proficiency can apply to volunteer. They will need to be available for 10 non-consecutive shifts, each lasting eight hours during the 2028 Olympic Games period i.e between March 2028 and August 2028. Volunteers for the Paralympic Games will work between August and September in 2028.

Official game-time volunteer applications are open, with organizers seeking around 60,000 volunteers.

Volunteers selected for Games-time roles will work on-site at venues in Greater Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, New York City, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, San José, or San Diego.

The 2028 Summer Olympics will take place in Los Angeles from July 14-30, 2028. The LA28 Games will use existing venues across Southern California, including the LA Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium, with some events also held in Oklahoma City.
