A shirtless man was caught on camera vandalizing a Waymo in the middle of a busy East Hollywood intersection Saturday.
Video of the scene, posted to the Citizen app, shows the man lounging in the Waymo’s broken windshield at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Edgemont Street. He then climbs onto the self-driving car’s roof and begins yanking out its inner workings while shouting at traffic.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the intersection at approximately 1:35 p.m. Police were seen taking the man into custody. Watch footage of the vandalism and the arrest in the video at the top of this story.

KTLA reached out to LAPD for more information and is awaiting a response.
KTLA also reached out to Waymo for comment on the vandalism. The rideshare company has not immediately responded.
Waymo expanded its operations across Los Angeles in June of 2025. The autonomous vehicles are sometimes criticized for causing traffic problems in congested cities. The driverless cars are also a common target for vandalism. Last month, a group of teens were seen hanging out the windows of a Waymo as the SUV made its way through busy Santa Monica traffic.
