Utah prosecutors will on Monday being laying out their case, in a pre-trial court hearing, against the man accused of fatally shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk last year.

Kirk’s parents and his widow, Erica, are expected to attend the five-day hearing in Utah court where prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against defendant Tyler Robinson, according to NBC News.

They will argue Robinson should stand trial for murder.

The hearing in Salt Lake City will be livestreamed.

Robinson turned himself in to police after the Sept. 10, 2025, shooting.

Prosecutors allege he also sent a text message confession to his partner and left a note saying he had an opportunity to kill one of the nation’s leading conservative voices “and I’m going to take it,” NBC also reports.

However, the 23-year-old Robinson has not entered a plea in the case. He is charged with aggravated murder in connection with the shooting as Kirk was addressing a crowd of thousands at Utah Valley University.
