Lisa Leslie Wants More Black Women Presidents and Coaches in the WNBA

On Saturday night before the Fever – Liberty WNBA game, legend Lisa Leslie shared that there should be more black women WNBA team presidents and coaches.

This is the exact reason the WNBA fails – racist entitlement.ADVERTISEMENT

The racist entitlement embedded in the WNBA is why the league it has always failed.  Believing that someone should be a player, referee, marketer, or back office employee because they are a certain is pure racism.

What some people refuse to understand is that judging or hiring someone based on their race or color is racism.

The WNBA and all organizations should opt for the best.  The best basketball players are based on skills, not race.  The same goes for other positions.

You wouldn’t put a 5 foot women at center because she you discriminate against short people.  You should hire the best presidents and coaches regardless of their size as well.

The focus that the WNBA has had on entitlement is its greatest downfall. The women were good athletes that played, but they couldn’t sell what they did. Nobody wanted to see him. They promoted BLM and celebrated LGBTQ and quite frankly a lot of people don’t want to see that. When they go to see a basketball game, fans want to see a good basketball game that’s officiated properly, that’s coordinated, that’s ran well, and it’s fun to watch.

The WNBA in the past may have provided that. The girls may have been great athletes, but a majority of Americans didn’t want to have BLM and LGBTQ shoved down their throats.

Caitlin Clark comes along and brings a huge fan base with her because of her excitement, because of her skill set, because of what she does on the court, and the WNBA says this is where we always should’ve been.  This may be true, but shoving the BLM and LGBTQ down peoples throats may have killed it.

Now the WNBA is shooting themselves in the foot again.

The referees are terrible, seemingly targeting Caitlin Clark. The other players on other teams are terrible towards Clark and even players on her own team are terrible towards her.

The coaching is horrendous. After three years, the Fever still haven’t figured out how to get Clark the ball or how to set a pick to get her open.

This is the problem that has to be addressed. You don’t put in referees that suck and are biased to build your league. You don’t do the same with worthless coaches. If you wanna build your league and make it great, you need to bring in the best people for the jobs.

Bringing the best in positions in the WNBA will make it great, not entitlement.  Quite frankly, most of the huge base of fans that followed Caitlin Clark to the league have had enough of terrible management, coaching, and referees.

The WNBA needs less entitlement, not more, to succeed.
