U.S. Renews Airstrikes on Iran for 2nd Night

Not really a surprise at this point but airstrikes have resumed over Iran.
For the second consecutive day, the Pentagon said it struck military sites in Iran on Wednesday night, hours after President Trump said he thought a three-week-old cease-fire between the two countries was “over.”
Iranian state media reported that explosions had been heard in at least three port cities along the country’s southeastern coast.

At the direction of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command forces have started conducting additional strikes against Iran to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway.
President Trump suggested Iran had called him and was already eager to this to stop. He was also asked why Iran attacked ships in the Strait in the first place if they're already regretting it. Trump suggested they were a bit crazy.
🚨 JUST IN: Following MASSIVE strikes on the regime earlier tonight, President Trump says Iran CALLED HIM wanting to go back to a “deal”
“They want to make a deal SO badly. They called a little while ago.”

I haven't seen any specific reporting on this but it's possible there are different factions operating here. The military is full of hard liners who want a fight and other factions in the government may have a little bit more realistic view of the wisdom of starting another fight with the U.S.

On Tuesday, the United States carried out airstrikes against more than 80 targets in Iran in retaliation for what the Pentagon said were Iranian strikes against three commercial ships, including a Saudi oil tanker and a Qatari vessel carrying liquefied natural gas.
The American strikes — about seven times the number the U.S. military launched in the round of retaliatory strikes in late June — targeted Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities and more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps small boats, Central Command said.
Officially, Iran's only response so far has been military strikes on U.S. bases.
The president spoke after Iran launched heavy retaliation overnight, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it had targeted 85 U.S. military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait on Wednesday, according to the semiofficial media outlet Fars.
“They’re scum. They’re sick people. They’re led by sick people, and they’re vicious, violent people,” Trump said in his comments earlier Wednesday. “Far as I’m concerned, it’s just a waste of time dealing with them. They’re liars … there’s something wrong with them. They’re cuckoo. As far as I’m concerned, it’s over.”

That's all for now. I'll keep my eye on it for the next few hours.
