Another local report suggests that the injured agent was "okay" but it's not clear if he was transported to a hospital or was eventually able to get up.

That seems to be all anyone knows at the moment. So far, the driver has not been caught or publicly identified. Hopefully that will happen later today.

Not surprisingly, lots of people are on the left are celebrating this news.

The Daily Beast has a story up which doesn't mention that the ICE agent was hit by a van.

If you click through to the story the headline reads "ICE Agent Opens Fire After Being Humiliated in Deep Trump Country." Here's how it opens:

An ICE agent in New Jersey opened fire on a vehicle after a person they attempted to detain fled the scene.

A manhunt is underway after federal agents attempted to apprehend an individual in a sleepy Jersey Shore township where President Donald Trump dominated Kamala Harris 9:1 in 2024.

That's all I can see of that particular story but it looks like they've decided to leave out the bit about the agent being struck by the vehicle.

I'll update this story if the suspect is caught or we get any more information on injuries.

Update: The NY Post has more information on the suspect.

An illegal migrant from Peru rammed his van into an ICE agent during a “targeted vehicle stop” in New Jersey on Monday, prompting the officer to open fire on the fleeing suspect, authorities said.

The chaos unfolded as immigration officers tried to pull over and arrest Freidrich Castillo-Ormeno, who was released in the US under the Biden administration, around 9:30 a.m. in Manahawkin, according to ICE.

The Post adds that the ICE agent was taken to a hospital but no word on his condition. As for the suspect, he's still at large.
