A nationwide crackdown of ongoing protests in Iran have led to at least 538 people dead, according to numerous activists.

The crackdown comes after a new wave of anti-regime protests occurred throughout Iran. According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), protests are occurring in 585 locations across Iran, representing all 31 provinces. HRANA has a reputation for accurate reporting from on-the-ground sources. In the past two weeks, over 10,600 people have been detained, according to Politico. Other measures taken by the Iranian government include shutting down internet and phone services throughout the country.

Donald Trump took to Truth Social to support the protestors, “Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before. The USA stands ready to help!!!” This follows remarks last week where Trump stated, “If Iran…violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue.” (RELATED: ‘Trump Suggests He’ll Strike Iran Again If Military Buildup Continues’)

Reza Pahlavi, the Crown Prince of Iran, who has been exiled to the United States, released a statement asking the United States to help. “Your threat to this criminal regime has also kept the regime’s thugs at bay. But time is of the essence. The people will be on the streets again in an hour. I am asking you to help. You have proven and I know you are a man of peace and a man of your word. Please be prepared to intervene to help the people of Iran.”
