5 Times Liberal Pundits Admitted Painfully Obvious Truths In 2025

Several prominent liberal pundits who generally lean left made notable admissions on podcasts in 2025.
Former “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd, comedian Bill Maher, radio host Charlamagne tha God, CNN anchor Abby Phillip and journalist Katie Couric all acknowledged points that many conservatives have long argued. The admissions included topics such as coverage of former President Joe Biden’s decline, President Donald Trump’s tariffs, incendiary rhetoric and political bias. 1. Chuck Todd Says Legacy Media Downplayed Biden’s Issues Due To ‘Fear’ Of Perception Of ‘Helping Trump’
WATCH:
Todd said on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on April 9 that legacy media outlets were hesitant to fully cover Biden’s decline out of concern they would be viewed as boosting Trump.
“The only thing I can chalk it up to is this, whatever you want to call it, this fear that some members of the media had sometimes — that they would be perceived as helping Trump if they somehow diminished Biden,” Todd said. “Right? That it was some sort of zero-sum game. And I think this has been the fundamental mistake that many members of the traditional press have done.”
2. ‘I Gotta Own It’: Bill Maher Admits He Was Wrong About Trump’s Tariffs
WATCH:
Maher acknowledged during a July 28 episode of his “Club Random” podcast that his prediction that Trump’s tariffs would decimate the U.S. economy by July 4, 2025, did not come true.
“[T]he stock market is at record highs. I know not everybody lives by the stock market, but I also drive around,” he added. “I don’t see a country in a depression at all. I see people out there just living their lives. And I would have thought — and I gotta own it — that these tariffs were going to fucking sink this economy by this time — and they didn’t.”
3. Charlamagne Admits He Has Engaged In Rhetoric Inciting Violence Against Trump
WATCH:
During a Sept. 12 episode of “The Breakfast Club,” Charlamagne suggested that his rhetoric against the Trump administration could amount to incitement. The episode came out just two days after the Sept. 10 assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and followed two assassination attempts on Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign.
“I think we all incite — whether we think we do or not,” Charlamagne told his guest, Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who has repeatedly compared Trump to Hitler. “And what I mean by that is I’ve definitely called that regime ‘fascist.'”
“If you hear somebody call him ‘Hitler’ … If there’s somebody that thinks, ‘Oh, Hitler?’ And then they look at a lot of the actions that are going on — they’re like, ‘Well, let’s prevent this before 4 million people get killed,'” he added.
4. CNN’s Abby Phillip Admits Her Network Has Left-Leaning Bias
WATCH:
Moreover, Phillip admitted on “The Breakfast Club” on Oct. 28 that CNN leans left after Charlamagne suggested it was an established fact about her network.
“I would say it’s fair to say that CNN — we’re not Fox News, but we’re also not MSNBC,” Phillip said. “We’re probably center-left. And I think that has a lot to do with our audience.”
5. Katie Couric So Triggered By Trump’s Autopen Portrait Of Biden She Gives Up Pretending To Be Impartial
WATCH:
Couric also disclosed on “Next Question with Katie Couric” on Nov. 6 that she no longer attempted to be unbiased when covering Trump. The admission followed her guest, ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, noting that Trump had installed a photo of an autopen instead of a portrait of Biden at the White House.
“I’m sorry, I’ve kind of gone beyond trying to be impartial here, Jonathan, because his behavior is so beyond the pale,” Couric told Karl.
