Brawl Between NHL Teams Gets So Wild That We Had Bloodshed, Rabid Mascot Trying To Get Involved
Holy bananas! This is exactly how I want my hockey!
Washington Capitals defenseman Jakob Chychrun notched the 100th goal of his career, the legendary Alex Ovechkin added his 901st into an empty net, and the Caps topped the Carolina Hurricanes, 4-1. Oh yeah, it was a magical night for Washington.
And it was also a magical night for us hockey fans. (RELATED: Averett, Guilford Football Programs Cancel Rest Of Seasons After Wild Brawl Escalates Into Utter Chaos)
With five minutes left to go in the first period, Capitals center Nic Dowd ignited a brawl by colliding with Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen while pursuing the puck behind the net, leading to 18 penalty minutes. The chippy opening frame racked up 22 minutes in total. The game calmed after the break, with only 12 more penalty minutes tallied over the final two periods. But the chaos that we did get … it was absolutely beautiful.

I was actually in the middle of watching college basketball (Florida State vs. Florida) when my editor sent me this, and when I watched it, I couldn’t help but to marvel at the scene. This brawl was so entertaining that, quite frankly, it’s a piece of art.
People like to talk about what’s the new Mona Lisa, what it possibly could be … I’d like to throw these views into the ring.
