Disney Losing Millions Of Dollars Per Day Amid Battle With YouTube TV: REPORT
Disney is losing millions of dollars every day they’re not on YouTube TV.
Recently, the company made the announcement that their channels were being removed from the streaming giant because of a dispute over a carriage fee. Disney continued the YouTube TV blackout for “Monday Night Football,” which was carried on ESPN. The decision led to furious fans, with one of them even being NFL legend J.J. Watt. The situation got even messier Tuesday following Google rejecting the offer from Disney to have ABC on YouTube TV for one day in order to provide election coverage. Google said that a move like that would “cause customer confusion among those who may briefly see ABC on YouTube TV only to lose it again shortly after,” per Variety.
As a result of the dispute between Disney and Google, the former is suffering major financial losses, as Awful Announcing is reporting that Disney is losing $5 million per day not being on YouTube TV.
“Disney generally receives about $15 per month per subscriber from pay TV providers for the right to distribute the ESPN family of networks. YouTube TV boasts approximately 10 million monthly subscribers. So for each month that Disney is not getting paid by YouTube TV, it loses about $150 million (and likely a bit more when accounting for non-ESPN networks owned by Disney),” reported the outlet.
“On a per day basis, that comes out to about $5 million, meaning Disney has already missed out on about $20 million in revenue for the four days its networks have been blacked out on YouTube TV.”

Fortunately, “Bluey” saved me from the blackout, with my kids loving the show so much that I had no choice but to subscribe to Disney+. I got the package with ESPN+ and Hulu included.
But damn … being a sports fan is in 2025 with all this corporate nonsense.
