'Mythical' Creature Spotted For First Time Ever

Believed to be the first of its kind that’s been documented, a “mythical” all-white Iberian lynx was spotted in Jaén, Spain, being seen in the city’s mountains.
The witnessing of the rare wildcat resulted in celebrations of success for the Iberian lynx‘s conservation due to the species nearly going extinct at one point.
The footage, which was shot by wildlife photographer Angel Hidalgo, shows the lynx with a bizarre white coat while still having the same features of a lynx, which includes the signature face, sharp eyes and darkened ear tufts. “I’ve been setting up cameras for years, with many failed attempts and long hours of work. But this time, nature gave me something truly unique,” said Hidalgo, per NDTV.
After examining the video, experts confirmed that the lynx has leucism, which is a rare genetic condition that causes pigment loss. Different from albinism, which is when an animal has a complete lack of color with its visuals impacted, leucism allows a creature to have normal pigmentation for its eyes and healthy development overall.
