EXCLUSIVE: Alabama Senate Contender Comes Out Swinging, Suggests His Opponents Are Secret Democrats

Republican Alabama Rep. Barry Moore and candidate for Alabama senate cast his GOP rivals as ideologically weak, and he reaffirmed his loyalty to President Donald Trump in an exclusive interview with the Daily Caller Tuesday.
After announcing his candidacy for Alabama’s U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville, Moore spoke with the Caller on why he believes he is the strongest contender in the GOP field.
I’m running for U.S. Senate because the people of Alabama deserve a Trump conservative and a working man who will defend their freedoms. “I think I’m probably the only candidate in the race right now that hasn’t donated to Democrats recently or been a Democrat in many ways — I think it’s just my track record as a member of the House Freedom Caucus,” he told the Caller. Moore pointed out his long-standing support for Trump.
“I ain’t never been nothing but a Republican,” he said.
“I am not a weathervane politician, I just am who I am,” Moore added.
Moore told the Caller he’d be “tickled pink” if the president decided to endorse his Senate campaign.
“I’ve certainly talked with him about it and I’ve gotten his endorsement in the prior races. I would be honored to have his endorsement in this race. But I think for us right now, it’s more important that we support him and what he’s doing, and I’ve always done that,” Moore asserted.
Moore told the Caller about his views on government transparency and the push to release the Epstein files.
While noting the government has previously released sensitive records — such as those related to the former President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. assassinations — Moore believes that the Jeffrey Epstein case requires discretion.
He underscored that many of the individuals involved were already victims, and they should not be re-traumatized or potentially lose their “anonymity.”
“There’s just things that we have to look at and so I trust the administration to get it out when they need to and to do it in a way that doesn’t make victims of the victims again,” Moore told the Caller.
Moore has not always represented Alabama’s 1st Congressional District. A 2023 federal court decision led to redistricting in Alabama and moved Moore into the 1st District, making his previous 2nd District more favorable to Democrats.
Moore ran in the 1st District in 2024, where he defeated incumbent Republican Rep. Jerry Carl in a contentious primary race.
Redistricting is the process of adjusting the boundaries of state legislative and congressional districts every decade based on the results of the U.S. Census, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Moore expressed frustration with judicial interference in the redistricting process both in his state and in ongoing battles over district boundaries taking place across the country.
“It’s interesting to me that the Democrats in Texas call us a danger to democracy while they allow thousands upon thousands of people to be counted in the census to — change the balance of power in Washington, D.C., and certainly in Alabama. Eric Holder sued a lot of red states. And, you know, I think that’s what happened in the last election — after the last census,” he said.
Describing the Democrats’ actions “cowardly,” Moore emphasized that the constitutional responsibility for drawing congressional districts lies with state legislatures, not the courts.
“We, we had the courts get involved here in Alabama and draw our congressional districts instead of the legislative branch, which were elected by the people, and that’s their constitutional requirement,” he told the Caller.

He also condemned counting non-citizens in the census for congressional representation, labeling it a form of foreign interference in U.S. elections.
While the Census Bureau counts everyone living in the United States — excluding only foreign tourists and temporary business travelers — it includes millions of people residing in the country without legal status, according to Census Bureau rules.
Moore also told the Caller about Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” and how he believes it will help his constituents in Alabama.
Moore highlighted his favorite aspect about the legislation: tax relief for family farms.
“I think for me, the inheritance tax off of farms, because we see a lot of farmers in Alabama who are cash poor and asset rich,” he noted.
“When the founder or one of the patriarchs of the family passes away, then the IRS shows up with a bill for them dying. And very often, you see these farmers have to liquidate assets — these families lose those small family farms across the state,” Moore told the Caller. Moore acknowledged he would like to see more action on reducing the federal deficit, affirming Republicans reached a practical agreement to move the agenda forward and secure wins for the president.
“I will say this, there are principled people, and there are perfect bills. There’s 485 versions of ‘perfect’ in the House of Representatives on what a Big, Beautiful Bill would look like,” he said.
“Sure, I’d like to zero the debt out yesterday, but we didn’t get here overnight and you can’t zero it out overnight,” he told the Caller.
Moore expressed he is “not a huge fan” of continuing resolutions, which have increasingly become a fallback method to fund the government instead of following the traditional appropriations process.
“It puts the defense contractors and a lot of industries in this country at a disadvantage,” Moore stated.
“I hope we can get back to a normal appropriations process where we do the 12 appropriations bills and then they are passed through the Senate and we budget responsibly,” he continued.
“Hopefully we can get some appropriations finished up and through the pipeline over to the Senate before we run out of time,” Moore told the Caller.
Moore, a veteran himself, and outlined his plans to enhance support and expand resources for Alabama’s veteran community.

“And so we’re at 7,000 cases, and I was literally sitting in a little restaurant in downtown Enterprise a few months ago, and an old fellow walked up to me and he said, ‘Hey Barry, I’ve been waiting on my hearing aid since the war.’ And I asked, ‘What war?’ And he said, ‘The Vietnam War. I called your office, and within two weeks, we had our hearing aids,'” Moore stated. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Jared Hudson Calls Out ‘Disconnect’ Between Middle America, Washington)
He emphasized that serving veterans is a deeply held value for him, rooted in a long family tradition of military service — including his own — which he described as both a way of life and a point of pride.
“We do have a huge veteran population in Alabama and we have people who have served and then put it all on the line for this nation and we need to honor our promises to them,” he told the Caller.
