Democratic Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers faced accusations of offending and erasing mothers after he introduced a bill in which the word “mother” was replaced with the phrase “inseminated person.”

The 1,917-page bill was introduced Tuesday by the Wisconsin Senate’s Joint Committee on Finance and contained Evers‘s budget recommendations for the 2025-2027 fiscal period. Amendments to certain parts of the bill that concerned state laws on paternity disputes and artificial insemination recommended that the term “mother” be replaced with “inseminated person” or “person inseminated;” “biological father” with “natural parent;” “husband” with “spouse;” and “male” with “person;” among other changes. “This is beyond parody,” wrote WISN-TV broadcaster Dan O’Donnell on X.

Scarlett Johnson, a Wisconsin Moms for Liberty Activist, accused Evers of trying to erase mothers. “‘Mother’. ‘Woman’. Those are words he can’t say because the woke won’t let him. The woke won’t let us define what a woman is,” Johnson added.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with Democrats, I really don’t. Why they’re willing to throw mothers under the bus, just virtue-signaling to a bunch of crazy people,” she also said.

“The thought of being labeled as “inseminated” or “uninseminated” by this creep makes my stomach turn ???” wrote activist and former competitive swimmer Riley Gaines.

“First, we were ‘birthing persons,’ now this? What’s next—’human incubators’?” wondered an X user.

“Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ latest left-wing push isn’t just out of touch, it’s offensive to mothers. Being a mother is the greatest privilege I will have in my lifetime, and every mother I know feels the same. If Tony Evers can reduce motherhood to an ‘inseminated person’ then our society is lost,” said Republican Governors Association Executive Director Sara Craig.

Evers did not mention the language in the bill while introducing the budget proposal and saying it would end income tax on tips, keep a lid on property tax, and improve the state’s infrastructure, among other things, FOX News reported.

One of President Donald Trump’s first executive orders since returning to the White House Jan. 20 — titled “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government” — declared that “[i]t is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female.”

The order criticized “ideologues who deny the biological reality of sex” for having “increasingly used legal and other socially coercive means to permit men to self-identify as women and gain access to intimate single-sex spaces and activities designed for women, from women’s domestic abuse shelters to women’s workplace showers.”
