Texas Congressman Calls to Defund "Lawless" Sanctuary Jurisdictions - Border Hawk

“You have local, state, and municipal governments who are saying, ‘We refuse to work with federal law enforcement. We will not work with federal immigration enforcement,'” Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) told Border Hawk.

“For example, if you have an illegal alien who gets arrested by a local police department for petty theft, let’s say, and that illegal alien has an immigration detainer on them — instead of turning that illegal alien over to ICE, these sanctuary jurisdictions will release them out onto the street.”

“That makes those communities less safe. It undermines our country’s sovereignty. I think that it’s utterly lawless… I don’t think those jurisdictions — if they refuse to work with federal law enforcement — I don’t think we should provide them funding,” Rep. Gill said.
