Actor Mike Myers says another Austin Powers movie could be on the way, more than 20 years after the last film hit theaters. During a recent appearance at Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party, Myers gave a short answer when asked about a fourth installment. “Yes,” he said, offering no further details.

The comment marks a shift from Myers’ past statements, which often showed interest but stopped short of confirmation. He has previously said any new film would likely center on Dr. Evil, the franchise’s breakout villain. Fans have long speculated about a return, but no official production has been announced.

Director Jay Roach addressed the possibility in a 2020 interview with Deadline. He said the project depends on Myers finding the right idea. Roach said he remains open to returning, calling Myers a major creative force behind the series. He noted that after many years, a strong concept has not yet come together.

The original Austin Powers trilogy, released by New Line Cinema, earned more than $500 million worldwide. The final entry, Austin Powers in Goldmember, debuted in 2002. The films became widely recognized in pop culture and inspired a wave of parodies and imitators.

Interest in the franchise resurfaced this week with a Verizon commercial featuring Myers alongside Seth Green, Mindy Sterling, and Rob Lowe. The ad revived familiar characters and humor, drawing attention online and fueling new speculation about a sequel.

Hollywood has leaned heavily on sequels and reboots in recent years, often returning to proven brands instead of launching new ideas. Myers’ brief confirmation may excite longtime fans, but it I think it’s more about his bank account getting low. Sure, studios continue to rely on established franchises to drive revenue, but long-term audience interest in the “International Man of Mystery” has to have faded by now.
