LOS ANGELES, CA — A construction site in the downtown area was fined several thousand dollars on Thursday after inspectors from OSHA cited them for not blaring mariachi music.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines are clear that repeated willful violations of city ordinances requiring mariachi music to be played at maximum volume on all job sites carry a hefty $24,550 fine.

Crew members present at the time of the inspection described nearly passing the inspection before OSHA official Gary Jolie hit them with the hefty fine.

"Well, everything looks in order and — hold on — why does it not feel like I'm in a Mexican restaurant?" Inspector Jolie reportedly said, finally understanding why the clean and safe construction site felt so off-putting.

The inspector later addressed the concern directly. "I appreciate that a lot of you are Latinx, but I don't hear any mariachi music, and that's a real problem," Jolie informed site management. "You can use a live mariachi band until you get some speakers in here and start blaring mariachi music at all times."

At publishing time, the site was also cited for employing too many legal citizens.
